About the Role
As a Senior Manager/Director in US-UK International Tax Compliance & Advisory, you will play a crucial role in developing and managing our US-UK tax compliance and advisory services. Your responsibilities will include handling a diverse portfolio of clients, providing expert tax advisory services, and actively participating in business development to grow our new practice area. This role requires a blend of technical tax expertise and strong business development skills.
Key Responsibilities
1. Client Management: Take primary responsibility for building and managing a portfolio of UK-US clients, focusing on US-UK international tax compliance & advisory. Serve as the main point of contact, offering expert guidance and exceptional service.
2. Collaboration: Work seamlessly with our offshore team to ensure efficient execution of tax compliance engagements.
3. Risk and Performance Management: Manage engagement risk and performance, ensuring clients receive high-quality service.
4. Business Development: Actively participate in marketing and business development activities to expand our client base in the UK-US corridor.
5. Cross-Selling: Identify and leverage opportunities to cross-sell additional services to existing and new clients.
6. Technical Expertise: Stay updated with US and UK tax laws and regulations, providing clients with the latest insights and strategies for compliance and optimization.
7. Work Planning and Delegation: Ensure work is planned and delegated in advance to meet deadlines and manage workload efficiently.
8. Review and Sign-Off: Carry out accurate and complex final reviews, ensuring risks are minimized and high standards are maintained. Sign off completed tax returns.
9. Team Development: Demonstrate continued development of management skills by providing support and guidance to allocated junior staff members.
10. Billing and Collection: Take the lead in the billing processes and work with the Central Accounts Team to secure prompt payment of invoices.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
1. Minimum of 8 years of experience in public accounting firms.
2. Qualified member of the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) and qualified to practice US tax, i.e., a CPA or an Enrolled Agent (EA). A CPA qualified individual is desirable but not required.
3. Strong technical skills in US-UK international tax advisory.
4. Good IT skills.
5. Proficiency in automated tax processing systems, Microsoft Office tools (including advanced Excel features), Thomson Reuters Gosystems, and tax research applications.
6. Excellent supervisory, analytical, and leadership abilities.
7. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly.
8. Highly motivated to engage in business development activities and contribute to the growth of our new business portfolio.
9. Well-organized and detail-oriented approach to ensure accuracy and compliance.
10. Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
11. Experience in providing a high standard of service to clients both face-to-face and over the telephone/email.
