About the role
Our projects are more than just your opportunity to make your mark. They’re an opportunity to stretch, test and develop your expertise. Join our Rail team as a Logistics Manager on the Beckton project and you’ll deliver complex work that really matters to our business, and the world around you.
The primary purpose of this role is to control, manage and deliver the logistics plan for the project and work and/or assist the Project Director, Senior Project Manager and site delivery team in the management and delivery of the logistical requirements of the project.
What you'll be doing
The successful candidate will:
• Have overall responsibility for the logistical requirements of the project and will be required to lead by example, managing the day to day delivery of logistics plan;
• Ensure all team members are fully inducted and carry out role specific requirements,
identifying opportunities for improvement;
• Motivate team and manage performance, undertaking training/ coaching as appropriate;
• Execute and monitor short term programmes to support the logistics plan;
• Maintain accurate progress records and deliver regular Toolbox Talks;
• Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm;
• Be responsible for the safety and welfare of the general public, staff and supply chain within area of control;
• Manage sub-contractors, including monitoring of contractor attendance and progress, providing direct instruction and support as necessary, such that contractual arrangements are achieved;
• Work with the project delivery team to regularly review the project programme as it relates to site logistics to ensure completion on time.
Who we're looking for
The successful candidate will:
• Have a successful track record in managing project logistical requirements within a construction, or construction related environment;
• Be CSCS Card and SMSTS qualified; must be willing to become First Aid qualified;
• Clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are followed accurately, and have experience in implementing systems improvements;
• Be capable of taking ownership of tasks and communicating outcomes with clarity; experienced at encouraging direct reports to do the same and managing a team to ensure tasks are carried out effectively and key messages cascaded;
• Be able to work under pressure to deadlines, and a flexible attitude towards work in order to deal with a variable and demanding workload;
• Be an excellent team player and have experience as a team leader, able to work competently and independently without supervision;
• Have a good working knowledge of current H&S legislation;
• Be aware of site requirements from a logistical perspective and help keep the site delivery team on target for a commercial perspective.
