ISG: The Investment Solutions group of SSGA manages 421.74 billion USD as of June 2024 and is a strategic partner for SSGA clients that provides integrated multi-asset capabilities, total portfolio solutions, global resources and expertise. It is a key component in enabling SSGA to become of the top 3 largest asset managers globally before the end of the decade.
Primary Responsibilities
IS&R:
Working on a diverse portfolio of projects, your responsibilities as an Investment Strategy & Research Intern will include:
* Assisting in the execution and delivery of investment research for bespoke client projects.
* Assisting in the development and publication of Thought Leadership on key investment topics of interest to SSGA's clients worldwide.
* Updating and keeping current SSGA's Global Market Outlook (GMO) - Our flagship Thought Leadership publication.
ISG:
* Work with the Portfolio Management in London and the broader EMEA team on specific projects to help the PM team on day to day and week to week portfolio management and monitoring activity.
* Assist the investment team in designing specific portfolio dashboards as required
* Review research produced by sell side, third party research providers and academic world
Required Skills or Certifications
* A genuine interest in global financial markets
* A preexisting knowledge of broad financial concepts and instruments
* Strong analytical skills including advanced Excel data analysis, Python & VBA (preferable) programming and some familiarity with data sources such as Bloomberg, FactSet, Eikon DataStream, ...
* Confidence with written and verbal communication in English and preparing presentations in MS PowerPoint
* Ability to work successfully in a self-motivated environment and collaborate closely across teams, regions and timezones
* A strong work ethics and a desire to learn

* An understanding of macroeconomic, geopolitical and investment trends and their implications for a large, global financial institution
* Understanding of the investment issues which face some of the largest asset owners globally
* Ability to shape and publish Thought Leadership with high visibility and relevance, and a long shelf life
ISG:
* Fund analysis
* Portfolio management: monitoring and rebalancing
* Portfolio construction: strategic asset allocation, tactical asset allocation and building block selection
* Project management
* Asset class modeling
* Sell side research review
* An exposure to some relevant UK and UE regulation relevant for asset management firms
