Salary: £33,945 - £38,223 Per Annum
Type: Permanent, Full Time 37 Hours Per Week
Location: Lancashire
International Sponsorship: This role is not open to international sponsorship.
Position: Assistant Operations Engineer (Countywide Maintenance)
Reporting to the Operations Engineer, you will work as part of a team of highway professionals to deliver a high-quality highway service experience for customers and stakeholders countywide in line with the service key themes:
1. Exceptional Customer Focus
2. High Quality
3. High Performance
The post is based at Cuerden, but you may be required to work at various locations throughout Lancashire. Lancashire Highways Service is responsible for the direct delivery of all highway-related schemes across the County, which includes:
* 4,300 miles of road
* 151,000 street lights
* 2,955 bridges
We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Operations Engineer, required to support the delivery of the highways maintenance function, which is often complex in nature, politically sensitive, and high profile. This role is an opportunity to support the maintenance and enhancement of the highway network, providing long-term benefits for residents, visitors, and businesses in Lancashire.
Role holders at this level will be expected to manage the human and financial resources allocated to the team. They must be able to use judgment to deal with daily unforeseen problems with limited guidance, within established procedures. Typically, roles at this level are the first level of professional line management in the council. They will generally have the freedom to make practical and operational decisions within closely defined policies and procedural guidance.
We are looking for someone ideally with an ONC (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related field, although this is not essential. Crucially, we seek someone with significant experience in traffic or highway engineering fields, preferably with specific experience delivering highways maintenance functions. The role also requires supervision of small schemes and works to ensure all activities are delivered on time and within budget. You must have a full and valid driving license as you will be required to drive a Lancashire County Council vehicle.
Please ensure you have uploaded and attached your supporting statement to evidence how you meet the criteria for the role. The panel may be unable to shortlist you for an interview without this evidence.
