Reporting directly to the Retail Operations Director, the General Manager will have operational P&L responsibility for operations covering service levels, manufacturing, quality, safety, and all performance improvement functions in a 24/7 environment. You will lead a 240+ workforce with 8 direct reports to achieve and exceed company goals, supporting the development and delivery of the business plan for the site in line with the overall operations and business strategy and values.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Reporting directly into the Retail Operations Director, the position will have operational P&L responsibility for all retail operations covering manufacturing, engineering, NPD, planning, technical, innovation, and all performance improvement functions in a 24/7 environment.
2. Delivering our commitments to our customers through market-leading service levels, a laser focus on quality balanced with an appreciation and firm grasp on yields, costs, and control of the factory processes.
3. Leading site objectives through motivating the operational team to deliver whilst also focusing on the next steps of innovation, OEE, and doing things right.
4. You will lead, motivate, coach, and develop the operational unit and wider teams to achieve the goals and targets set.
5. Utilise staff and equipment in a manner which will maximize the production of a quality product in a safe environment.
6. Ensure all legal and legislative requirements are adhered to and up to date.
7. Manage and control departmental costs effectively to include energy use, water usage, effluent cost, and all other aspects of the overhead spend.
8. Maintain and motivate an engaged workforce, overseeing the annual performance management process for all colleagues.
9. Ensure effective stock management for RM and finished goods.
10. You will support the development and delivery of the business plan for your site in line with overall operations and business strategy and values.
11. Keep up to date with industry developments in manufacturing and distribution and introduce innovative changes to ensure that the site and region constantly improves.
12. Delivering high standards of quality, ensuring product produced is to customer specification in line with critical control points, GMP, and H&S requirements. Paying special regard to quality, cost control, yield and utilization health, safety & ethics, traceability, integrity, company, personal & food hygiene rules and legislation.
Personal Specifications:
1. The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of management of a Food Manufacturing facility preferably Chilled High Care/Risk foods. You must have operated at a Factory, Operational, or General Management level as a minimum; this is essential.
2. Must have experience working to BRC standards.
3. Significant experience at Senior Management Level with significant leadership and people management experience.
4. Be a natural leader, analytical thinker, have resource management skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
5. Have excellent customer-facing interpersonal, organization, and communication skills.
