Job summary At HUC, we are dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care across a range of urgent care services, including Urgent Treatment Centres (UTCs), Minor Injury Units (MIUs), Out of Hours Treatment Centres, and Home Visiting vehicles. We are seeking a skilled and motivated pharmacy technician to join our multidisciplinary team and play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient management of medications, equipment, and consumables. This is a full-time post (37.5 hours per week), based primarily on-site with travel across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and West Essex. Reasonable flexible working can be agreed. The role of pharmacy technician is instrumental in supporting the delivery of high-quality care by maintaining the timely availability of essential resources. Your expertise will help drive best practices in prescribing and medicines management, ensuring alignment with clinical guidelines and promoting patient safety. This role requires collaboration with healthcare professionals to enhance prescribing practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of medication use across our services. Main duties of the job Support for urgent care services: Ensure the timely supply of medications, equipment, and consumables to urgent care settings, working closely with service delivery teams to address operational needs. Audits and compliance: Conduct and review prescribing, prescription, and site audits to ensure adherence to guidelines, CQC standards, and best practices, while addressing errors and inefficiencies. Data analysis and feedback: Analyse prescribing data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to clinicians to support quality improvement and share findings through internal communications. Governance and policy development: Assist in implementing NICE and MHRA updates, investigating medication-related incidents, and developing SOPs to maintain quality and safety standards. Operational support: Perform stock audits, ensure compliance with controlled drug regulations, and manage prescription packs to meet the needs of urgent and out-of-hours services. Training and development: Provide training and mentorship on medication handling, adherence to protocols, and medicines management to operational staff and team members. Patient-centred initiatives: Collaborate with clinical leads to optimise prescribing practices, reduce waste, and align medication management with patient safety and best practices.
