Education Mental Health Professional - Qualified
The Mental Health Support Team are recruiting to 3 vacancies. These roles are available for Qualified Education Mental Health Practitioners, Child Wellbeing Practitioners and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners with experience working within or closely with schools.
Main Duties of the Job
The (MHST) were established in Nottingham City in February 2020, providing an early intervention and preventative service for over 892 children and young people and their families. This includes providing support for anxiety, low mood and behavioural difficulties, as well as running workshops to groups of children within educational settings, on themes such as transition, resilience and wellbeing, general wellbeing hacks, worry and distractions, and emotions through puberty.
Currently, MHST are supporting children and young people in over 70 educational settings, which will increase over the next 18 months to around 100 sites across the city. The expansion is being funded through £1.01m from NHS England and Health Education England as part of a national initiative.
We work in partnership with the school community and other wellbeing services to develop a whole school approach to mental health and wellbeing. We aim to achieve this goal through offering a range of services, including:
* Improving access to mental health support and services.
* Delivering training and workshops for schools and parents.
* Providing consultation to schools on mental health and wellbeing.
* Individual and group interventions for children and young people experiencing difficulties with managing emotions.

About Us
The ideal candidate will have:
* Successfully completed the HEE commissioned 1yr Education Mental Health Practitioner post graduate diploma AND/OR successful completion of Certificate in Children’s Wellbeing Practice (CWP), with post qualification experience as a CWP and experience of working in schools.
* Experience of working with children and young people, their families, and others in educational and health settings with mild to moderate mental health problems.
* Experience of delivering specific therapeutic interventions to children, young people, or their families (e.g. Guided Self Help, CBT, parent work).
* Experience of assessing and meeting the communication needs of the schools to deliver psycho-education on mental health or emotional wellbeing to different groups including parents, teaching staff, and young people.
A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
Job Responsibilities
1. Job Purpose
There is a requirement to work with schools remotely and face to face in delivering low level Guided Self Help to Young People and Families across various educational settings within Nottingham City schools, remote working from home and community buildings. EMHPs play a key role as members of the Mental Health in Schools Team, responsible for delivering the whole school approach to mental health and emotional wellbeing for children and young people.
2. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical and Client Care
* Be supervised and supported whilst delivering outcome-focused, evidence-based interventions in educational settings for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
* Use clinical skills in supporting children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, their parents/carers, families, and educators in the self-management of presenting difficulties.
* Practice evidence-based skills under supervisory support of working in partnership with children, young people, their families, and educators in the development of plans for the specific intervention and agreeing outcomes.
* Use skills required to enable children and young people in education, and where appropriate parents/carers to collaborate and co-produce their own agreed plan of care.
* Show evidence that assessment and intervention is provided from an inclusive values base, which recognizes and respects diversity.
* Discuss with supervisors and agree to accept appropriate referrals for children and young people in educational settings, according to agreed local and national referral routes, processes, and procedures.
* With supervision and independently, undertake accurate assessments of risk to self and others.
* Engage along with more senior staff in the signposting of referrals for children and young people with more complex needs to the relevant service.
* Engage in robust managerial and clinical supervision, identifying the scope of practice of the individual post holder within the role, and working safely within that scope.
* Gain and practice a range of interventions related to the provision of information and support for evidence-based psychological treatments.
* Practice, evidence, reflect on, and demonstrate an ability to manage one’s own caseload in conjunction with the requirements of the team.
* Attend multi-disciplinary and multi-agency meetings relating to referrals of children and young people in treatment, where appropriate, both for personal educational benefit in discussion with supervisors or to provide direct assistance.
* Keep coherent records of all training and clinical activity in line with both health and education service protocols and use these records and outcome data to inform decision making.
* Complete all requirements relating to data collection.
* Show evidence of working within a collaborative approach, involving a range of relevant others when indicated.
* Contribute to the development of individual or group clinical materials or training materials and develop further such materials as falls within own degree of competence.
Training and Supervision
* Prepare and present case load information to supervisors within the service on an agreed and scheduled basis.
* Respond to and evidence the implementation of improved practice because of supervisor feedback.
* Engage in and respond to personal development supervision to improve competencies and practice.
* Disseminate research and service evaluation findings through presentations and supervisory discussions.
Professional
* Ensure the maintenance of standards of own professional practice according to the post holder's employer.
* Ensure that confidentiality is always protected.
* Ensure that any risks or issues related to safety and wellbeing are communicated and shared with appropriate parties.
* Ensure clear objectives are identified, discussed, and reviewed with supervisor and senior colleagues regularly.

Qualifications
* Undergraduate degree in Psychology or related subject.
