SEN Teaching Assistant Location: Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire Salary: £83 - £90 per day Start Date: ASAP Contract Type: Full-Time, Temp-to-Perm GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a reputable Alternative Provision SEMH School in Scunthorpe. This full-time, temp-to-perm position involves supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs, working closely with class teachers to deliver individualised support and help foster a positive learning environment. Responsibilities: Collaborate with teachers to plan and deliver tailored lessons, providing individualized support to students in both one-on-one and small group settings. Create and maintain a welcoming, inclusive environment that encourages students to fully engage in their learning. Offer both academic and social support, assisting students in adapting to teaching methods and materials suited to their individual needs. Support positive behaviour management in line with the school’s policies, acting as a consistent, approachable role model. Build strong relationships with students, particularly those with SEMH and additional needs, fostering trust and a sense of belonging within the school. Work closely with school leadership and other support staff to ensure the highest standard of care and educational guidance. Requirements: Right to Work in the UK. Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Special Needs Teaching Assistant qualification preferred. At least 6 months of relevant experience in a childcare, education, or SEN setting, ideally working with students who have SEMH, ASC, ADHD, or related needs. Background in care or PE/Sports is highly desirable, supporting the school’s emphasis on engagement and well-being. A genuine passion for working with young people and a commitment to overcoming barriers to learning. Confidence in delivering pre-planned lessons and interventions, and promoting positive behaviour in line with school expectations. Must hold or be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS (Child Only) registered to the update service.
