Brief Description
As a Team Leader (Planning & Admin) at Network Rail, you will lead a dedicated team to deliver an effective, efficient, customer-focused, flexible, and agile planning service. Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring exceptional customer service, acting as an escalation point for service issues, and providing national planning and administration support as needed. Your leadership will be key in fostering a collaborative environment, driving continuous improvement, and maintaining high standards of service delivery.
About the Network Rail Training Team:
We believe that excellent training and development is essential to our success. Skills, operations and leadership training are managed by dedicated route and regional teams. Our network of qualified trainers use their hands-on rail experience to deliver industry-leading skills, operations and leadership training locally and through our dedicated development centres.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Champion an engaging and motivational working environment that embodies the company values and fosters a culture of continuous improvement, with clearly defined high standards of customer service.
2. Confirm that all members of the team are fully briefed, understand job requirements, responsibilities, objectives, and key performance indicators.
3. Produce a robust training plan to demonstrate the effective utilisation of trainers, assets, and venues, whilst considering the health and wellbeing of the team members and customers in delivering these plans.
4. Monitor and manage planning and administration activity at an individual and team level to deliver the annual training plan, Planning and Administration volumes, maximise performance and meet key performance indicators in line with service level agreements and external supplier frameworks.
5. Motivate, coach, and develop team members to deliver improved customer service and personal efficiency.
6. Establish and manage performance objectives, performance appraisals and training/development plans for all team members.
7. Collaborate with external suppliers, colleagues in the Planning and Administration and delivery teams to balance resources and offer a seamless and consistent service to training delivery teams and customers.
8. Conduct periodic reviews of the training delivery plan with the training delivery team and external stakeholders to maintain an agreed level of service delivery; enhance frameworks and manage risk.
9. Drive innovative thinking through the team and use of robotics to establish and maintain a standardised way of working across the Planning and Administration Service to increase productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.
10. Verify that Planning and Administration requests are handled within the defined operating model, external supplier frameworks and service level agreements.
Occasionally you will be required to travel to our regional Training Centres.
Essential Qualifications:
1. Demonstrable knowledge of Training planning, scheduling systems and processes
2. Demonstrable experience of developing and managing a training delivery plan on a large scale
3. Proven knowledge in effective leadership and the development of people, being able to lead and motivate.
4. Proven ability to engage with and influence customers and build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders at any level.
5. Successful experience in working to agreed timelines and standards, demonstrating the ability to work under pressure with good attention to detail.
6. Experience in training development with knowledge of railway discipline competence frameworks
Desirable Qualifications:
1. A knowledge of the railway industry and rail training sector
2. A knowledge of training catalogue and training supply chain
3. A knowledge of Training Standards
