Job description
This role is available full-time for 37 hours per week. Flexible or compressed
working patterns available.
Do you want to work somewhere a little bit different? Where you also play a
part in national security engineering?
Working within our advanced manufacturing facility you will bring your
existing experience as a Technical Buyer to join our production control
office. You’ll source, negotiate and purchase technical goods and services
that meet the needs of your manufacturing and engineering teams.
Your previous background in technical procurement will be crucial to enable
your success in this role, including excellent supplier management skills, and
a deep understanding of industry-specific materials and equipment.
You’ll play a crucial role in enabling teams to meet deadlines for critical
projects by monitoring levels of stock and ensuring the parts and components
needed are available.
You’ll use your knowledge to support less experienced members of your team and
also continue to develop your expertise through on the job learning. There
will also be the opportunity to enrol on courses to support your learning too.
More About You
To apply for this role, you will already have:
Experience of purchasing mechanical or electronic assemblies.
The ability to read and interpret mechanical and electricalelectronic
drawings.
Proficiency in utilising ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
Problem-solving and risk management skills.
To strengthen your application, it would be beneficial if you also have:
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
A proven ability to independently lead negotiations.
Experience of developing innovative build and delivery strategies.
The ability to analyse costs and manage budgets effectively.

Putting your skills to use
Using your diverse range of skills within the supply chain team, you will:
Use your technical knowledge to procurement components required for large
scale projects.
Evaluate components and documentation to ensure they meet project requirements
and challenge when necessary.
Ensure all technical procurement is completed to standard and within set
timescales to ensure no front-end delays.
Liaise with stakeholders to provide support on technical purchasing.
Support the development of less experienced team members through mentoring and
coaching.
Utilise your knowledge of processes and standards to develop and build the
capability.
