Position Summary
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for providing financial leadership for a manufacturing facility by planning and coordinating financial activities, managing overall financial control and accounting operations for a plant including general and cost accounting, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and ensuring GAAP compliance. This position also plays a critical role in cultivating strong cross-functional relationships with operations, supply chain, and other functional teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Oversee Accounting for all Plant operations
* Implement and monitor the month, quarter and year-end close accounting schedules.
* Prepare all appropriate general ledger entries and monthly reconciliations.
* Oversee full cycle accounting for the manufacturing site, including but not limited to: Inventory, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Intercompany transactions, Payroll.
* Facilitate Internal/external audits, ensuring internal controls are established and followed.
* Maintain CAPEX accounting for all purchases and associated depreciation schedules including the fixed asset register and schedules. Process related journal entries.
* Account for all plant operating and overhead expenses. Record all associated transactions and perform periodic audits to ensure standards are accurate.
* Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
* Generate and review financial reports, providing insights to support decision-making.
Assure Accuracy for all Operational transactions in ERP (NetSuite)
* Work closely with the Director of Business Analytics and Systems Integration to ensure transactional excellence in NetSuite.
* Assure that transactions including but not limited to Bill of Materials, Work Orders, Manufacturing Cost Templates, Assembly Builds, Purchase Orders, Sales Orders, Item Fulfillments and Invoices are recorded accurately and in real time.
Financial Leadership and Process Creation:
* Lead the development and implementation of financial processes for a new manufacturing plant, incorporating industry best practices to ensure efficient and scalable financial operations.
* Collaborate with senior leadership to create accounting policies tailored to the plant’s needs, ensuring compliance with GAAP and alignment with the company's overall financial strategy.
* Build and optimize financial reporting frameworks, including templates for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring timely and accurate financial insights for decision-making.
Inventory & Cost Accounting Management:
* Process Cost accounting – responsible for the accurate reporting of Cost of Goods Manufactured and Sold.
* Perform regular cycle counts to correct inventory misstatements.
* Periodic reconciliation and updating of standard costs to actual costs.
* Maintenance of a perpetual inventory system with NetSuite daily.
* Monthly closing process – schedule and coordinate with Third Party Warehouses and within the department to meet the closing deadlines. This includes planning and leading monthly and quarterly inventory counts/reconciliations, preparing journal entries, posting, balancing and reconciling subsidiary ledgers (NS transfers, NS transactions related to inventory movement).
* Reconciliation of inventory balances.
* Develop and monitor budgets for inventory and excess/obsolete items.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
* Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
* CPA, CMA, or other relevant professional certification is highly desirable.
* Proven experience in financial management roles within the manufacturing industry, with a focus on accounting.
* Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statement preparation.
* Extensive experience working with ERP systems in CPG/Manufacturing environment (e.g., NetSuite) and proficiency in EDI, MS Excel and financial reporting tools.
* Strong analytical skills and proficiency in full cycle accounting.
* In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and cost accounting principles.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
