* SDDP Senior Mechanical Engineer
* Contract Role - 12 Months
* £70p/h
* Remote Role - 1 day on-site every 6 weeks at Devonport, Plymouth
The Energy Division at ARM is currently recruiting an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a world-leading nuclear defence client based out of Devonport dockyard.
Job Overview:
Our client provides major new or upgraded dock, berth, and building infrastructure projects to support the ship and submarine sustainment programmes. Your primary focus is to manage the delivery of mechanical engineering work packages to the required scope, quality, schedule, and cost.
Some of your duties will include:
* Lead and manage one or more technical design packages, agreeing project-related objectives, managing designer performance, and making appropriate technical management responses. Provide Subject Matter Expert advice as per discipline.
* Ensure that the design documentation covers the scope of operations required by the Project Manager and is produced to agreed standards, schedule, and budget.
* Plan for effective project implementation, identifying key factors and leading the project’s technical planning process.
* Ensure effective Quality Management Arrangements, operating and delivering through compliance with Babcock’s Business Management System and Technical Manual.
* Ensure that the processes and activities being managed are appropriately documented with appropriate records maintained and configuration and quality controls applied.
* Ensure that staff and contractors are familiar with the hazards and risks associated with the work undertaken by the delegated engineering team through effective management.
What do you need to succeed?
* A degree in an appropriate engineering discipline.
* Chartered Engineer, registered with the Engineering Council or working towards Chartership.
* Nuclear Introductory Course or equivalent nuclear and/or marine system knowledge preferred.
* Alternatively, experience in other safety-critical plant/process design would be considered.
