Our client has over 40 years' experience as an industry leading supplier, specialist designer and UK manufacturer of high-quality composite panels and panel-based systems. They operate one of the most efficient, modern and sophisticated high-speed laminating plants in the industry.
They are now seeking a skilled and experienced Operations Manager to join their reputable business, which covers two sites, one based in Pocklington and one in Thorne.
THE ROLE:
In conjunction with the Company's production planner, site supervisors, and ERP system, continually review and oversee capacity planning across all activity centres to enable accurate prediction and quotation of delivery lead times. Responsibilities include:
1. Overseeing and managing day-to-day planning, prioritisation, control, and allocation of work within the factory.
2. Ensuring agreed delivery dates are always met.
3. Aligning production capacity with demand through control of overtime, manning levels, shift working, and capital investment.
4. Recommending and implementing method improvements and necessary capital purchases.
5. Liaising with purchasing to maintain adequate stock levels and avoid stockouts.
6. Understanding the roles of direct reports and temporarily standing in for them when necessary.
7. Recruiting, motivating, and leading all factory employees.
8. Ensuring compliance with current employment legislation.
9. Monitoring and updating disciplinary procedures in line with legislation and best practices.
10. Maintaining the safest possible working practices and environment.
11. Providing necessary training for employees, including induction and health and safety.
12. Carrying out regular performance appraisals and retraining as needed.
13. Taking responsibility for quality control.
14. Continually improving standard working procedures and productivity standards.
15. Managing any bonus schemes in force.
16. Carrying out specific projects as required.
THE CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate will have:
1. A proven track record in running manufacturing operations and supporting growth objectives.
2. An engaging demeanour, capable of leading and creating "buy-in".
3. A focus on process improvements and the ability to communicate changes effectively.
4. Experience in leading, coaching, and motivating team members.
5. Strong strategic mindset and leadership skills.
6. Understanding of HR principles, practices, and employment law.
7. Strong health and safety experience (NEBOSH is a significant advantage).
8. Effective communication and active listening skills.
