Alcohols Limited is a chemical distribution company which was formed in 1955 as a subsidiary of The Palmer Group. It is a private family company founded in 1805 which is still family owned today.
This role will be based at our new £22m facility in Rugby based at the Europark just off the A5 which has recently opened. (A5 Watling Street, Clifton upon Dunsmore, Rugby Warwickshire. CV23 0AJ)
The Opportunity
This role will provide carry out the production and order fulfilment operations handling solvent chemical in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Policies and safe systems of work ensuring high quality finish packed products. You will be working in a semi automated production site filling orders and moving product. A valid forklift licence is essential. Experience of working within the chemical industry would be an advantage.
What you will contribute
* Understand and comply with the company initiatives for Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) (e.g. H&S Policy, Golden Rules) and actively support the “Safety First” approach.
* Responsible for safely carrying out day-to day operations in the area, including tanker unloading, filling & blend operations, product quality and on-time order fulfilment according to approved SOPs.
* Ensure the work areas are clean, well organised and kept in good order.
* Ensure all equipment and plant machinery used is in good working order and report any faults or production issues to supervisor or site manager immediately for repair or replacement.
* Understand the area processes, SOPs and equipment and be able to carry out basic troubleshooting (if trained) or be able to clearly describe issues.
* Understand the order fulfilment process from enquiry to dispatch and ensure all recording of transactions/paperwork is carried out accurately.
* Support a culture of continuous improvement through 5’s process
* Be aware of daily raw material stock levels and raise low stock levels to supervisor. Support stock organization (inc lot selection) and month end stock checks.
* Safe handling and processing of flammable liquids and raw materials in bulk volumes, including the safe loading and off-loading of tankers
* Carry out pack down and filling operations safely and effectively. Ensure all packaging is clean/undamaged before use, and picked stock is in good order and labelled correctly
* Safe operation of Forklift Trucks
* Be aware of and support the company objectives for SHE, Quality and Customer Satisfaction.
* Be prepared to act as operational support for the Distillery operations if capacity needs change and additional resource is required.
What you will bring
* GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent)..
* Health & Safety Qualification (e.g. IOSH).
* Fork Lift licence - essential
* Experience of handling hazardous materials, ideally with flammable materials, and working in a production/distribution company.
* Trained in ATEX/DSERA regulations (desired)
* Committed to a Safety First approach to all aspect of the job.
* Excellent communicator and able to build relationships with the team, peers and stakeholders
* Well organised and a practical/proactive problem solver.
* Good communication and numeracy skills.
* Able to accurately record information and follow process instruction (SOP)

* IT literate. Able to use learn and effectively use TROPOS to handle work flow transactions.
* Experience of equipment troubleshooting and automated process systems and/or IT based picking and stock control.

40 hours per week including a 30 minute paid lunch break. No weekend working but you may be required to work 8 consecutive hours between 6am and 8pm.
