Job overview
The Radiology nursing team is currently looking for a Senior Radiology Nurse Manager (Band 7) to join the team; the successful candidate will need to be a dynamic, enthusiastic individual, with established leadership experience. Previous Radiology nursing experience is preferable. We encourage and give staff the opportunity to develop their leadership, clinical skills, and competencies within Radiology.
The Radiology nursing team provide an invaluable service supporting patients undergoing Radiology guided procedures across the Trust's three acute hospital sites. We work closely with multiple specialities, GPs, consultants and other hospital departments.
Main duties of the job
* To maintain continuing responsibility for the unit in your charge.
* Ensure staff competence for clinical practice procedures, using Trust competency framework, including appropriate underpinning knowledge and practical skill.
* To support and assist the Radiology management team to monitor performance and manage the nursing staff in areas of responsibility, ensuring all employment records are locally maintained and current.
* Provide an effective role model, by demonstrating high standard of professional behaviour, in accordance with the NMC Code.
* Use clinical skills and knowledge to give specialist advice and support to peer group staff, patients and relatives.
* Lead and develop the supervision and management of clinical nursing practice within area of responsibility to ensure safe and effective holistic evidence based care.
* Support Senior Management in the development of departmental annual education and training plans by producing a Radiology Department Nursing based training and development plan.
* Contribute to the Radiology Department’s Risk Register and making available to the Governance Team.
* Report, investigate and act upon complaints and Adverse Incidents in line with Care Group and Trust policies, collating themes and identification of learning points for the Radiology Department.

Person specification
Qualifications
* BSc Degree in Adult Nursing or equivalent
* Current NMC registration
* Specialist post registration experience or willingness to work towards
* Immediate Life Support/Advanced Life Support
Experience
* 2 years’ experience at Band 6 in a hospital setting
* Previous radiology nursing experience
* Venepuncture, Cannulation, ECG, IV drugs, & ILS
* Leading in quality improvement project within clinical speciality
* 5 years post registration experience in a variety of acute clinical settings
* Some experience in budget management
* Knowledge of Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF)
