About the Role
MetDesk Limited, the UK's largest private sector weather forecasting business, is seeking an experienced Energy Meteorologist to join its dynamic forecast team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to work with a global customer base, delivering highly specialised weather information and support services for weather-critical operations in energy trading, power and demand forecasting, and renewable energy generation.
The successful candidate will work with a team of energy meteorologists, analysing and interpreting observational, teleconnection and forecast model data to provide accurate and up-to-date information to energy customers.
The Energy Meteorologist will require strong interpersonal and customer-focussed skills, critical for client-facing discussions, and a proactive, professional and energetic approach to get involved in all aspects of the working environment, including product innovation and development.
Key Responsibilities
* Analyse and interpret observational, teleconnection and forecast model data to ensure energy customers are in receipt of accurate and up-to-date information.
* Work with a team of energy meteorologists to deliver highly specialised weather information and support services for weather-critical operations.
* Develop and maintain strong interpersonal and customer-focussed skills for client-facing discussions.
* Contribute to product innovation and development, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of weather forecasting technology.
Requirements
* A degree in meteorology or an associated science.
* Experience as an operational energy forecaster for European or worldwide markets.
* Comprehensive knowledge of global weather models, including their strengths and weaknesses.
* In-depth knowledge of synoptic meteorology and climatology.
* Knowledge of key teleconnections and how they can impact global weather patterns.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Understanding of the importance of teamwork.
