The job itself
We are looking to recruit 2 workers (to work together) for a kind and friendly young man who requires support to access the community.
The hours for this role are a minimum of 6 hours term time and 14 hours in the school holidays.
The job will entail taking him to places such as the beach, zoos and museums. He also likes going to parks that have duck ponds. Workers will also spend time with him at his home, engaging in activities that he enjoys, such as exploring his environment and playing with his sensory toys and musical instruments, especially the cabasa!
The young man uses a wheelchair and will need support with his personal care, including washing, dressing and changing; he is doubly incontinent. He needs 2 to 1 support with transportation and accessing the community. He has a hoist to support him to move around the home and a special seat for bathing. He is fed via a pump. He is visually impaired, and it is really important for those working with him to talk to him and let him know what is happening. His parents, who are the employer, will provide the training and information that is required.
