The Role: We are currently recruiting engineers for R&D roles which span mechanical, electrical and electronics disciplines. We are looking for problem solvers – people with ideas and a passion for overcoming engineering challenges. Successful candidates will, as a prerequisite, possess very strong hands-on engineering skills combined with a sound theoretical knowledge of one or more engineering specialisms. Also essential will be a willingness to demonstrate a flexible and positive approach to taking on new challenges and acquiring new skills which may be outside their existing comfort zone. Applicants will, preferably, have experience in experimental design and/or project management. Responsibilities may include: System Design: Design and develop components, subsystems and systems which enhance the functionality and efficiency of Barocal's innovative cooling solutions. Experimental Design and Execution: Design and carry out experiments to validate the performance of advanced prototypes in lab and real-world conditions. CAD Drawing: Utilise CAD software to create detailed engineering drawings, ensuring precision in design and adherence to industry standards. Manufacturing Engineering: Drive projects that enhance product efficiency, functionality, cost-effectiveness and manufacturability. Customer & Supplier Engagement: Collaborate with customers and suppliers to ensure customer requirements and specifications are met or exceeded, and that Barocal’s quality, performance and delivery requirements are adhered to by suppliers. Project Management: Manage own projects and sub-projects and potentially the work of others as part of a team, to ensure Barocal’s overall objectives are met and that projects stay on track. Required Qualifications Skills and Experience: Education: 2.1 or 1st Class Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Thermal Engineering, or a related discipline. A PhD in a related field is a plus. Experience: 3 years of achievement in an industrial or R&D environment. Practical Skills: Demonstrable capability and aptitude in practical engineering tasks and engineering problem solving including building and operating lab or industrial equipment. Desired Skills and Characteristics: Familiarity with experimental setups, test procedures, and instrumentation. Strong analytical skills, with a rigorous approach to problem solving. Expertise in CAD and manufacturing/materials processing. Self-motivation – the ability and willingness to define, prioritise and execute tasks with a high degree of autonomy when required. Collaboration – the ability to work positively and constructively within a team to get the best out of others and achieve outstanding results Experience in HVAC, hydraulic systems and/or industrial control systems is a plus.
