St Margaret's Hospice has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our Advice Line team. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a salary of £32,413 per annum plus 18% unsocial hours enhancement. Taking calls from a variety of sources, you will play a vital role in supporting patients and their families in Somerset. The advice line service operates over seven days, with shift patterns of 7am - 3pm, 9am - 5pm and 4pm – midnight. This role can be based at either Taunton or Yeovil. There may also be an opportunity for remote working, dependent on home location and IT set up, following induction and completion of the agreed probation period. What can you expect to be doing? Making the time to care and listen to callers is at the heart of what we do in the Advice Line. Our aim is to support patients to stay in their own homes for as long as possible, helping to enhance their indepence and quality of life. Your day to day work will include: Triaging calls to provide essential end-of-life care and symptom control to those suffering with life limiting illnesses within their own homes Providing tailored advice to patients and their families, helping them to navigate available support and signposting to the most appropriate services for their needs. Visiting patients within their own home. Working alongside advice line calleagues, community nurse specialists and other members of the multidisciplinary team. We support patients and carers who are based within the Somerset area and are registered with a Somerset GP. Calls are received from a variety of sources, including health care professionals, and can be for symptom control management, emotional or psychological and carer support. What will you be good at? You will: Be a qualified, NMC registered Nurse Bring a dynamic and problem-solving approach to this role Have previous experience within palliative care Weekend and bank holiday working is essential to this post.
