Key responsibilities The senior postgraduate research finance officer primary responsibility is to business partner with our key internal and external stakeholders providing expert advice and guidance across all post award tasks and activities for postgraduate research awards within a designated, non-fixed portfolio. Main internal stakeholders are; principal investigators, postgraduate research support & operations colleagues, central finance colleagues & school / faculty colleagues. Main external stakeholders are; external funders, ukri and auditors. Main remit of role to include but not limited to: Full operational responsibility for all post award deliverables and tasks within an assigned portfolio of postgraduate research awards Main contact for internal and external stakeholders within assigned portfolio of postgraduate research awards Understand fully the terms & conditions of the awards within the assigned portfolio of postgraduate research awards with special responsibility for ensuring all financial reporting and audit conditions are complied with to contractual deadlines Ensure continuous professional development (CPD) is maintained to the relevant standard to fulfil remit of role as set by management. This will include regular attendance of internal and external training, awareness sessions and any other courses or technical training as required per prevailing CPD policy within the team Full responsibility for planning and organising all task, activities and deliverables within remit of role to agreed timescales in order to comply with contractual deadlines and the terms and conditions of the research awards within assigned portfolio To line manage a team of Postgraduate Research Finance Officers and/or Postgraduate Research Finance Assistants that work within the School/Division(s) and be responsible for their performance and development This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual looking to advance their career in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment. We are looking for a skilled and experienced Senior Postgraduate Research Finance Officer, we want a candidate that can: Qualified to AAT level 4. AAT Finalists or exceptional candidates qualified by experience and with significant sector experience will also be considered. Have substantial experience of working in a accounting environment Have experience of attending meetings with budget holders Be confident with accounting and costing concepts Be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with the ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders Have excellent IT skills, to include advanced excel skills and be able to demonstrate excellent analytical skills over a large amount of data Possess strong numeracy skills demonstrating accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to quickly grasp complex details, analyse, summarise and recommend appropriate action As an ideal candidate you will have: Knowledge of Institutional IT systems including Oracle Finance System (General Ledger and Projects Module), PURE, Power BI, Campus Solution Student System.
