The Planning and Development Directorate is responsible for the sustainable and responsible development of the City’s neighbourhoods - both residential and commercial.
This high-performing team deals with a wide range of interesting planning matters to help shape the future of the City for over 243,000 residents and visitors.
The City Future Projects team is responsible for undertaking integrated land use/transport-based projects that facilitate private sector investment and deliver the City’s Local Planning Strategy. The City has several exciting world-class projects that provide significant career development opportunities, with projects relating to Stirling City, Scarborough, and Mirrabooka Town Centre.
About the Position
The City Future team has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Strategic Planning Officer or Senior Strategic Planning Officer to join the team on a 12-month maximum term contract.
As the Strategic Planning Officer, you will primarily be responsible for all necessary work associated with correspondence, inquiries, proposals, policy, strategy development, and decisions within the City Future team.
Key Responsibilities
The duties of the Strategic Planning Officer will include but are not limited to:
* Assist with structure planning, urban design, urban development, and strategic development projects within the City;
* Research, investigate, develop, and input into strategic planning responses to further the sustainable development of the City;
* Participate and assist with the development of business cases and feasibility studies;
* Consultant selection, supervision, and project management;
About You

* Tertiary level qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning, or a related discipline, and significant demonstrated experience in a similar role.
* Demonstrated high level of knowledge and understanding of the principles and practice of statutory and strategic Town Planning in a Western Australian Local Government environment.
* A high level of research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and the ability to negotiate at high levels.

This temporary full-time position commences at Level 7 Inside Workforce Agreement which attracts a salary from $96,731 gross pro-rata per annum plus superannuation.
To be eligible to work for us, you need to provide, or have the ability to obtain:
* A copy of an Australian driving licence
* National Police Clearance (valid within the last 3 months)
* Pre-Employment Medical and DAS clearance
* The right to work in Australia
