Job summary We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our team, supporting delivery of our ward-based clinical pharmacy services to patients within the Trauma and Orthopaedics directorate. Within this role you will work with a supportive team of experienced Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacists and Pharmacy Assistants to ensure medicines optimisation on the fast-paced surgical units at the John Radcliffe Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, including undertaking medicines reconciliation, supporting ward-based dispensing of medication and ensuring safe and effective use of medicines at a ward level. This requires a good understanding of appropriate medicines management and a flexible approach to working. This post is ideal for registered Pharmacy Technicians accredited in medicines management looking to build on their clinical experience or newly qualified Pharmacy Technicians looking to start their career in a ward-based role. Prior to starting, you must successfully hold the NVQ level 3 (QCF) or equivalent and be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). Main duties of the job To undertake medicines reconciliation for patients admitted to units within the Trauma & Orthopaedics directorate. To provide a clinical pharmacy service that ensures the safe and cost effective use of medications, including reviewing ward stock lists. To participate in the education and training of other members of the pharmacy and multidisciplinary teams. To participate in audits as per Trust requirements, for example Safe & Secure Storage of Medicines and Controlled Drug audits. To be an active member of the Pharmacy department and T&O Pharmacy Team ensure continuous two-way exchange of information to maintain high standards with the Trust.
