About the Role: As an SEN Learning Support, you will work closely with students who have a variety of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties and social, emotional and mental health challenges. Your role will be instrumental in providing one-to-one and small group interventions, helping students to engage with learning in a way that suits their unique abilities. SEN Learning Support Responsibilities: Provide tailored support to students with SEN, ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively. Assist teachers in planning and adapting lessons to meet the diverse needs of learners. Implement behaviour management strategies in line with the school’s policies to create a structured and nurturing learning environment. Support students in developing essential life skills, including communication, social interaction and emotional regulation. Deliver interventions and assist with differentiated activities to support student progress. Monitor student development, providing feedback to teachers and parents where appropriate. Encourage and promote independence among students while offering guidance when necessary. Work collaboratively with SENCOs, therapists and other support staff to ensure students receive holistic care. Assist with personal care tasks when required, ensuring a dignified and respectful approach. SEN Learning Support Job Requirements: A recognised qualification in education, childcare, or SEN support (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent). Proven experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in a school or alternative educational setting. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff. A proactive and patient approach, with the ability to adapt to different learning needs. A solid understanding of safeguarding policies within an educational setting. Understanding of various Special Education Needs conditions, including autism and ADHD etc. Have an updated CV ( covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps ) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
