About the Opportunity: A prestigious and well-respected consultancy is looking for an experienced Rating Surveyor to join their growing team in either Cardiff or Bristol. Key Responsibilities: Rating Advice & Consultancy: Provide expert advice on business rates, including assessments, appeals, and dispute resolution across a diverse range of commercial properties. Client Management & Business Development: Manage key client relationships, ensuring client satisfaction, and identifying new business opportunities. Attend client meetings and represent the firm at industry events. Property Valuation & Rating Appeals: Conduct detailed valuations for rating purposes, preparing and submitting appeals, and advising clients on how to maximise savings on their business rates. Research & Market Analysis: Stay abreast of changes in rating law and legislation. Provide accurate and informed advice by analysing market trends and the impact of new regulations. Team Collaboration & Mentoring: Work closely with other team members, providing guidance to junior staff, and contributing to the overall growth and development of the department. Cross-Selling Opportunities: Identify opportunities for cross-selling with other areas of the business, collaborating with colleagues from different teams to provide a holistic service to clients. Key Skills & Experience: Qualifications: RICS Chartered Surveyor (or working towards), ideally with experience or interest in rating and valuation. Experience: Solid experience in rating and valuation, ideally in the commercial property sector. Strong understanding of business rates legislation and experience with rating appeals and negotiations. Technical Competence: Knowledge of rating software and databases. Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other property valuation tools. Client-Focused: Proven ability to manage and develop client relationships, with a strong focus on providing commercial and strategic advice. Analytical Skills: Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to understand complex rating issues and present clear, concise solutions. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce reports and communicate complex issues in a clear and effective manner.
