About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will be crucial in supporting students with Special Educational Needs. Your primary responsibility is to assist these students in overcoming barriers to learning and to help them achieve their educational and personal goals. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to deliver tailored educational experiences that cater to the individual needs of each student.
SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Responsibilities:
* Collaborate closely with teachers and SENCOs to develop and implement tailored support strategies for students with Special Educational Needs.
* Adapt educational resources and classroom activities to meet the diverse needs of students.
* Provide direct, one-on-one and group support during lessons, helping with various tasks and activities.
* Assist with the implementation of behaviour management techniques suited to individual students.
* Foster the development of students' social skills and confidence through targeted interventions.
* Build strong, supportive relationships with students to encourage their engagement and motivation.
* Work with parents and external professionals to ensure a holistic support system is in place for each student.
SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Job Requirements:
* A recognised qualification in education, childcare, or SEN support (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent).
* Prior experience working with children or young people with SEN in an educational or care setting.
* A strong understanding of SEN, including autism spectrum conditions, ADHD, SEMH needs and speech and language difficulties.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
* A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach to supporting children with additional needs.
* An understanding of safeguarding procedures within an educational setting.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
