QA Engineer
Location: Harlow
Salary: £40k
Full-time: Fixed term contract – 12 months
Job summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive User Acceptance Tester (UAT Tester) to join our team. The UAT Tester will be responsible for validating that business requirements have been met and that the solution is fit for purpose from an end-user perspective. This role acts as the bridge between technical delivery and business stakeholders, ensuring quality, usability, and compliance before go-live. You will report to a Product Owner and work with the development and project teams to deliver workable software solutions across a number of customer cohorts.
What you’ll do:
* Collaborate with business stakeholders, business analysts, developers, and project teams to understand functional requirements.
* Develop, maintain, and execute UAT test scenarios, scripts, and cases based on business requirements and process flows.
* Coordinate and conduct UAT testing sessions with business users.
* Perform manual testing across applications.
* Gain deep business domain knowledge to confidently build test scripts and plans.
* Identify, document, and track defects and issues using test management and defect tracking tools.
* Work closely with software developers to understand the code base and test coverage at all levels.
* Address the outcomes of regression test reports with developers.
* Communicate testing progress, results, and issues clearly to stakeholders.
* Participate in triage meetings to assess defect severity and priority.
* Validate fixes and perform retesting of resolved issues.
* Ensure sign-off criteria for UAT are met and support go/no-go decisions.
* Contribute to test planning and project delivery timelines.
* Other duties as required.

* Experience in functional and non-functional testing, implementing modern testing frameworks and patterns.
* Proven experience in UAT testing roles, helping end users build test plans.
* Analytical skills to identify edge cases and user journeys, review requirements, and suggest improvements.
* User-focused approach to enhance user experiences through robust applications.
* Ability to participate in issue resolution and clearly define scenarios for recreating customer issues.

What we’re looking for:
Essential:
* Experience with automation testing in recent roles.
* Experience with manual functional testing.
* Experience in UAT testing, assisting end users with test plans.
* Knowledge of Agile development practices.
Desirable:
* Experience in the Insurance or Finance industry.
* Experience with API testing.
* Awareness of modern testing frameworks and CI.
