An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Address Management Officer. You will be in the team responsible for processing Street Naming and Numbering applications and maintaining the Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG). The LLPG is an address database maintained by local authorities, who are responsible for creating all addresses.
You will be joining a well-established and experienced team, who support each other by sharing their knowledge and skills. There is also an opportunity to undertake an apprenticeship and training.
This post offers the flexibility of working in a hybrid way providing support based in both the office as well as working from home.
What you can expect to be doing:
Dorset Council are responsible for creating all addresses in it's area and Street Naming and Numbering is a statutory function. The addresses we manage mean deliveries and visitors get to the right place, including the Emergency Services.
This is a customer focused role and you will carry out the day-to-day administration of Dorset Council Street Naming and Numbering service in accordance with all statutory requirements, including the collection of information and consultation with statutory bodies and other interested parties and maintaining the Local land and Property Gazetteer. The work also includes resolving address queries from internal and external customers, researching the history of an address and plan addressing schemes for large developments.

We would welcome applicants who have an interest in data and maps, enjoy helping people and would like to work in a friendly, supportive team. You do not need any formal qualifications - but good computer skills, attention to detail, an inquisitive nature and good customer skills are essential.
This is an opportunity for eligible pathway to employment individuals who are already supported by Dorset Council such as care leavers, young carers, young people with an educational health and care plan, and adults with Care Act eligible needs. This position is offered as an apprenticeship where you will be provided with a tutor and support. Dependant on previous qualifications, you will be completing either a level 2 Customer Services qualification or a level 3 Business Administration qualification.

Undertaking this apprenticeship you will gain a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours that can be applied in all sectors. In addition to learning how to develop, implement, maintain and improve administrative services in their organisation, you will develop key skills and behaviours to support your own progression towards management responsibilities.
You must deliver your responsibilities efficiently and with integrity, showing a positive attitude. As part of the apprenticeship you will develop and demonstrate strong communication skills and adopt a proactive approach to developing skills. You are also expected to show initiative, managing priorities and own time, problem-solving skills, and decision-making.
The apprenticeship will run alongside this role, with dedicated time allocated during your working hours to undertake the apprenticeship. Your employment contract will be supplemented with an Apprenticeship Agreement for the duration of the apprenticeship, which will enable you to spend 6 hours per week (or 20% of your time if your working week is less than 30 hours per week) on learning and development activities relating to the apprenticeship. Additional work in your own time may also be required to complete your apprenticeship.
