Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation in Livingston, is currently looking to recruit 2 IT Engineers for initial 3-month contracts with the option to extend, at a rate of GBP175-GBP200/day (Outside IR35). These roles will be based in Livingston.
Responsibilities:
* Build, deploy, and maintain the organisation's IT Infrastructure using the latest technologies, including Windows Server, Storage Area Networks, Virtualisation, Unix Server applications, Networking Technologies, Internet Connections, Windows Desktop, Mobile Devices, and Application Packaging and Deployment.
* Provide technical support and solutions to staff, pupils, and partners.
* Contribute to IT Service Management processes.
* Support projects with technical skills, focusing on client and server management, Unix server applications, Wintel, security, and networking.
* Support all aspects of the IT Service Infrastructure as needed.
* Deliver solutions for events, incidents, and issues per SLAs.
* Use the service portfolio to improve service delivery.
* Participate in projects involving technical platform management.
* Assist in analysing customer feedback to improve services.
* Support the IT Service Centre within quality standards to meet KPIs.
* Ensure the reliability and accessibility of organisational systems.
* Operate and report on the IT platform's performance.
* Contribute to IT service continuity procedures.
* Design and evaluate processes as per the Service Portfolio.
* Identify efficiency improvements within team operations.
* Maintain Change Advisory Board standards and procedures.
* Work closely with the IT Service Desk team to support effective service delivery.
* Participate in implementing IT Service Infrastructure and support all related activities.
* Plan work effectively within a performance management framework.
* Carry out technical tasks to support complex IT infrastructure components.
* Support the IT Service Desk as needed, including covering absences.
* Develop and deliver effective IT solutions, working autonomously and collaboratively.
* Evaluate customer requirements to ensure high-quality, customer-focused services.
* Mentor less experienced team members and prepare technical documentation.
* Analyse complex data for support and root cause analysis.
* Plan and coordinate technical changes, providing guidance to project managers and staff.
* Engage with suppliers and contractors on technical issues.
* Support technical subsystems and services within IT Services.
* Report on performance metrics and capacity information.
* Work with peers to prevent future incidents and resolve current ones.
* Track hours and work allocations accurately.
Essential Skills:
* Degree in IT or three years relevant experience in a similar organisation.
* At least two years' experience supporting a comparable network structure in areas such as Client and Server Management, Unix Server Applications (Oracle, Solaris, Linux, Storage), or Wintel.
* Experience in applying IT security controls.
* Strong customer focus and decision-making skills.
* Analytical skills for interpreting technical reports and system performance data.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Ability to self-learn and stay updated on IT trends.
* Work well under pressure, self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
* Knowledge and application of ITIL.
Desirable Skills:
* ITIL v3 Foundation or higher.
* PRINCE2 foundation or knowledge of project management.
* Technical certifications in relevant specialisms.
* Experience supporting diverse technical platforms and IT projects.
* Knowledge of IT Service Continuity procedures.
