Buckinghamshire NHS Trust is keen to recruit an enthusiastic cardiac physiologist with a desire for progression and a passion for cardiology.
We are looking for a cardiac physiologist with substantial experience and knowledge, particularly within cardiac devices or cardiac cath labs.
A BSc Cardiac Physiology qualification or equivalent is essential. Additionally, a qualification in cardiac devices (BHRS, EHRA, or IBHRE) is required, unless the candidate is currently working exclusively in cath labs.
Members of the cardiac physiology team will rotate through areas such as catheter labs (angiograms, PCI, PPCI, IVUS, OCT, FFR), exercise tolerance testing, tilt tests, tape analysis, device follow-up, remote monitoring, and device implantation. Experience in these areas is advantageous to maintain and develop skills.
Please Note: Candidates must have UK registration.
Responsibilities include interrogation and analysis of pacemaker/device leads during implantation, as well as interrogation, analysis, and reprogramming of pacemakers/ICDs/CRTs during follow-up clinics, adhering to BHRS guidelines and departmental standards. The role requires sufficient experience to deviate from policy when clinically necessary.
The successful candidate will interpret complex clinical information, apply theoretical knowledge, and deliver comprehensive assessments and analyses of pacemaker/ICD/CRT systems, including reporting and uploading findings onto cardiology reporting systems.
You will assist with cardiac angiography and PCI procedures, including interpretation, reporting, stock management, record keeping, and patient care.
Cross-cover responsibilities may include other technical services, requiring competency in at least one additional specialty, such as Non-Invasive Cardiology, ETTs, or ambulatory monitoring.
You will supervise junior staff, ensuring issues related to conduct or capability are reported to the Principal Cardiac Physiologist.
