Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time substantive Consultant in Paediatric Infectious Diseases & Immunology at the University Hospital of Wales site in Cardiff.This post is newly commissioned, based at the Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for Wales (CHfW) in Cardiff, and serving the paediatric population of the 5 health boards in South Wales. Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements. Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview. This must include sub-specialty training in an approved institution and they must be on, or eligible for, GMC sub-specialty registration in Paediatric Infectious Disease and Immunology. You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary range for this post is £106,000 per annum to £154,760 per annum. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee. Main duties of the job We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious colleague to join the current team of 2 PIID consultants. This appointment comes at an exciting time as we have received funding to establish a regional Paediatric Infectious Diseases service alongside the long-established All Wales immunodeficiency service. The service will also see expansion in nursing and operational support. The post will have a dual commitment to Paediatric Infectious Diseases and Paediatric Immunology. You will play an important role in the development of a clinical PIID network across the South Wales Health Boards, you will support SPIN and GRID training in PIID for Wales, and work closely with Public Health Wales.
