About the Employer
I am on a very specialist FOD Map diet and have medications to chew and epi pens for the most severe reactions so require careful food preparation of foods I can eat in my home with no cross contamination from foods I cannot tolerate. There are very few places I can eat out at so please follow my lead on planning social trips out. Training in epi pen use and first aid will be arranged for the right applicants. Due to Multiple Chemical Sensitivities and severe food intolerance and food allergies my home is totally fragrance free due to my severe reactions. I need someone with an eye for detail to help me keep my dishes washed and soap free as this is essential for my health. These reactions can be triggered by cigarette smoke, any fragrance including perfume, laundry products, even a strong-smelling deodorant and due to working closely together, I do need this taken into consideration when applying for the position. Thank you. I am a man diagnosed with ME and chronic fatigue and other multiple complex disabilities. I have a good sense of humour and have a positive outlook on life and a strong interest in healthy living and good food.
I am a practicing Roman Catholic and my mobility is very limited. My wheelchair requires lifting from my mobility car where it is stored and I have a powered wheel which can also be lifted out of the car boot to enable me to use my wheelchair independently when it attaches to the chair. I struggle with speech, understanding others and short-term memory as I have brain fog on my bad days due to ME therefore patience, listening skills and good communication is essential.
Drivers must pass the check by Motability to be added to my car insurance cover. It is an electric car so instruction can be given on charging and the specific controls of the car (electric handbrake etc)
The duties of my Home Help/PA would include Cooking: I need someone very confident in the kitchen to prepare meals in batches to specific recipes. Must be happy to use equipment such as an electric pressure cooker and food processor. A Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate would be ideal however, this can be completed once in post which would be funded by myself. Previous cooking experience preferred but an enthusiastic and competent foodie with great kitchen skills would also be considered. Day-to-day chores: such as laundry and housework completed to a very high standard. My home needs to be kept to a very high standard of cleanliness at all times due to my illnesses. You really need to enjoy cleaning and have a good eye for detail.
I also am on the autistic spectrum so experience of helping me to manage my frustration and related behaviours associated to my Autism would be helpful.
