Comprising of Anglian Water, Clancy, Claret Civil Engineering, Public Sewer Services and Danaher & Walsh, the IMR WRA manages planned and emergency sewer, rising mains and SMART technology installation as well as maintenance and repair across the region. To help us deliver projects in a smooth and efficient fashion, we are looking for a number of Project Engineers to join the team What will you be doing as an Estimator? Member of a Central Commercial Team supporting the delivery of multiple projects within the AMP7 regulatory period (Year 5 value approx. £78M). Main work scopes include repair and maintenance of critical water recycling infrastructure focusing on large value/complex projects such as flooding protection, gravity sewers, rising main relays and manhole chambers. Ensuring handover of estimates meets appropriate quality & standards and adheres to the agreed delivery timeframes and decision milestones. We operate under an outperformance contract model, and the estimator plays a key role in challenging all aspects of construction costs, and non-construction costs such as Health & Safety, Project Risk and Overheads which require a level of commercial and project management awareness. Maintaining high level of record keeping and clarity of all estimates for audit & review and supporting the project team through affordability challenges via the agreed contractual process. The successful candidate will report to the Commercial Lead. Key responsibilities: Provide CAPEX Estimates appropriate to the stage of the project from high level comparative estimates for optioneering to detailed bottoms up Estimates for development of Target Costs. Initially you will become familiar with the systems used to prepare Estimates. Once you are confident in utilising these systems you will work with Senior members of the team to recommend and implement improvements. Standardisation and improved accuracy of our estimates is one of the key priorities for IMR WRA for Year 5 and AMP8. Cost base records organisation and assurance. You will work closely with the quantity surveyors to help ensure that cost information is accurately captured from estimates and ensure that the transition of cost information is completed smoothly into the planning and forecasting tool. A little about your skills, behaviours and attributes required for this role This role would suit an Estimator with around 2 years’ experience looking for the next step in their career. However, we will consider Engineers or Quantity Surveyor with the relevant experience. Engineering or QS degree or previous relevant estimating experience Experience of Estimating within either infrastructure or utilities. Other Estimating experience building services / facilities management etc Experience using Estimating Software Strong Motivational Skills Strong Numerate and Analytical Skills Excellent Team Player with good Communication Skills Takes personal responsibility for continually improving own knowledge, skills and networks.
