Shell's target is to become a net-zero emissions energy business by 2050, in step with society's progress in achieving the goal of the UN Paris Agreement on climate change. Becoming a net-zero emissions energy business means that we are reducing emissions from our operations, and from the fuels and other energy products we sell to our customers. It also means capturing and storing any remaining emissions using technology or balancing them with offsets. We are transforming our business to meet our target, providing more low-carbon energy such as charging for electric vehicles, hydrogen and electricity generated by solar and wind power. SE-E A is the European Gas, Power and Emissions Trading business, and sits at the heart of Shell’s Energy Transition in Europe. The main Trading hub is in London, with an active presence through associated entities across Europe including Portfolio companies. Together with RES Europe we are building an integrated power and gas business. This involves building an integrated value chain across generation, optimization, and sales. Projects currently being developed are long term Power Purchase Agreements; Tolls with CCGTs and Batteries to manage intermittency volatility from renewable power generations; integrating the capabilities of recent corporate acquisitions (Ego, Next Kraftwerke and Nature Energy ); but also, for instance source offtake of Biomethane as a supply to BioLNG. Gas & Power is an exciting space to work in the middle of the energy transition. It is in an area that will see high deal activity in the form of new offtake and supply deals, developing the power strategy for SE-E A, developing a portfolio of assets across Europe that enables Shell to make money across the value chain. The S enior Finance Advisor is the Finance Lead on commercial deals as well as supporting the business and finance functions to enhance control environment across the Life of a Deal. Accountabilities: This role is to have primary location in London with a particular focus on: Supporting PPA deals and Renewable Power generation projects Supporting Flexible assets deals (CCGTs and Batteries) Ensuring the end to end finance impacts of a deal are fully understood, and work with teams across the Life of a Deal to ensure correct implementation. Support the onboarding of new assets and think through finance considerations on optimal ways to structure commodity flows. Finance Advisors are responsible for delivery of a full suite of Finance responsibilities, including, but not limited to: Providing business critical finance challenge and support from an early stage on deals Ensuring finance sign-off on proposed commercial opportunities Operationalizing and/or maintaining oversight across the life of a commercial deal Interfacing external banks and local regulatory representatives Regular interaction with senior stakeholders on the Decision Review Committees Arrange and organize the required internal governance organizational support and corporate approvals to support business requirements Provide finance expertise and advice to New Business Development, structured finance transactions or New Market Entry projects Review the results of project economics to ensure consistency in assumptions used, standardization of methodology, reasonableness of the results, etc. Provide financial input into project economics Provide controllership, governance and finance support to regional trading offices and business joint ventures, to ensure business remains in control during significant growth and change Liaise with other Finance functional areas, including Tax, Treasury, Controllers, Credit, Risk and Shared support services teams, who may be based in various Shell locations Integrated performance management - ensuring commercial delivery of long dated transactions is controlled and sustainable, ensuring there is transparency around deal performance and risks Advocate enterprise mindset and display leadership in establishing an integrated business model, governance and embedding ways of working across Shell Energy Europe (SE-EE). Dimensions Shell Energy Europe is the largest P&L contributor in the Global Gas & Power, having seen material growth in volumes, P&L, derivative trading activity and business development. There is an exciting growth agenda in this business and the role is at the heart of the energy transition for Shell. The Europe Gas & Power business teams are primarily based in London including m any of the FiB poo l Finance Advisors. This role will be based in UK but will work closely with both continental and UK-based colleagues. What we need from you CIMA; ACCA or other accounting qualification Experience in a (commodity) trading environment is highly advantageous, Knowledge of power/gas markets and asset offtake arrangements is advantageous Willingness to gain a deep understanding of the LOAD process and think through f inance Impacts.
