Job overview
We have an excellent and exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and suitably experienced Registered Nurse to join Brearley 7 at the Northern General Hospital as a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse. Brearley 7 is a 28-bedded ward caring for elderly patients including those with Dementia.
We are looking for dynamic, enthusiastic, committed, and aspirational nurses who want to do a good job and fulfil their own personal objectives and goals and make a difference to patients and the staff alike. Applications are invited from experienced Registered Nurses who ideally have experience in caring for the elderly.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate clinical expertise along with management and leadership skills. It would be expected that applicants would be able to demonstrate excellent skills in clinical practice and organisational ability, together with superb communication and interpersonal skills.
Main duties of the job
* To develop and provide specialised programmes of nursing care to a diverse range of patients and support to carers on the ward.
* To lead a team of qualified, support, and student team members.
* To take charge of the ward regularly.
* Support the Senior Sister/Senior Charge Nurse in ensuring the highest standard and quality of nursing care is delivered.

Person specification
Experience
* Experience of working in Geriatric Medicine areas.
* Evidence of personal and professional development.
* Ability to work autonomously.
* An understanding of patient flow in a busy acute area.
* Evidence of management experience.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (valid with NMC).
* To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
* Evidence of academic achievement, working towards Degree level of study.
* PgCert.
