Contract Length: Fixed term to May 2027 in accordance with the Local Government and Housing Act 1989

We are looking for a Political Assistant to support our Majority Group Leader, Deputy Group Leader, and Councillors in shaping the policies and decisions that affect Nottingham. This is a great opportunity to get involved in the heart of local government and make an impact on the city's future!
What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Political Assistant to the majority group, you’ll play an important role in helping our majority political group stay organised, informed, and effective. Your work will include:
* Supporting the Group Leader and other members in making decisions and setting priorities.
* Carrying out research and providing analysis to help shape Group policies.
* Keeping track of casework and ensuring it’s moving forward.
* Helping Councillors communicate effectively with the public and the media.
* Assisting with events, reports, and training for Councillors.
This is a fast-paced, rewarding role where you’ll be able to grow your skills and contribute to positive change in Nottingham.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for someone who:
* Has a good understanding of local politics and how local government works.
* Is comfortable doing research and gathering information to help with decision-making.
* Communicates clearly, both in writing and speaking.
* Can work well with a team and build relationships with Councillors and other key people.
* Can stay organised and handle multiple tasks at once.
* Can maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly.
