I am currently looking for an experienced Employment Solicitor to join a fantastic Top Tier Law firm in the Central Manchester area focusing on Employment and HR areas. My client is looking to hire an experience solicitor who can supervise with the junior level employees, to oversee and mentor. The role would also be to handle your own caseload and manage the firm’s prestige clients with autonomy. My client has a clear view for growth plan for their HR and Employment over the the next few years and need someone senior to step in and provide support for this.
The day-to-day duties of the Employment Solicitor position will include:
* Managing multi-day Employment Tribunal work on behalf of the Respondents – including drafting response forms and grounds of resistance, preparing and conducting Preliminary Hearings, undertaking disclosure exercises (including redacting/removing all privileged communications and complying with UK GDPR), drafting witness statements, preparing cases for the final hearing (and conducting advocacy where appropriate) negotiating settlements and drafting COT 3 agreements.
* Drafting and advising on contracts of employment and HR policies and procedures.
* Advising on employment status and types of working arrangements.
* Managing employee relationship cases including advising on discipline and performance management, sickness absence, grievances, whistleblowing, and discrimination.
* Providing advice to clients on TUPE transfers including when does TUPE apply, obligations to inform and consult, and changing terms of employment.
* Advising clients on termination of employment including redundancies, business reorganisation and settlement agreements.
* Supervising NQ’s and junior members of staff with their caseloads as well as manging clients of their own.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Negotiate with solicitors representing opposing party where appropriate.
* Prepare court papers where necessary interviewing witnesses/taking statements/instructing barristers etc.
* Ensure effective completion of administrative tasks particularly maintaining accurate, detailed client files and completion of Law Society and other required documentation.
* Prepare bills for payment and monitor outstanding fees making every effort to ensure prompt payment.
* Maintain professional knowledge and understanding through training, ensuring completion of the Law Society CPD requirements.
* Represent the practice in the wider legal/business sphere and seek to identify and build new client relationships.
* Time record appropriately.
* Keep up to date on the work conducted by other legal departments to ensure accurate cross selling opportunities.
