D'Addario & Co Inc. is the world's leading manufacturer of musical instrument accessories. Based in New York, USA, D'Addario has manufacturing and sales & marketing operations in multiple global locations. The Newcastle office is the regional head office for D'Addario's European activities that provides, amongst other things, finance & operational support services to its regional teams.
As part of our continued growth plans, we are seeking a European Finance Associate. You will play a vital role in supporting general accounting activities, including preparing journal entries, assisting with month-end close processes, compiling special accounting reports, and ensuring the accuracy of both general and subsidiary ledgers.
Responsibilities
* Apply all cash receipt transactions to customer’s accounts for checks, credit cards, and wire transfers.
* Ensure proper matching of vendor invoices to internal office documents.
* Obtain necessary department manager approval for all invoices.
* Reconcile accounts payable to the general ledger prior to weekly pay run.
* Generate payments of invoices in accordance with vendor payment terms.
* Post invoices to accounts payable (A/P) system with proper general ledger account coding.
* Maintain all accounts payable vendor invoice files.
* Support the team in ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes.
* Support the month-end close process, including the preparation and recording of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
* Assist the Finance Manager with daily accounting functions.
* Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts while identifying and helping resolve discrepancies.
* Assist in maintaining fixed assets database, including generating compliance and/or depreciation reports as requested.
* Apply accounting policies, rules, and regulations to all work in order to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
* Organize financial data into usable information and maintain updated records.
* Maintain and record keeping of accounting policies (i.e., prepaid policy, expense reclass policy, etc.).
* Assist the Finance Manager during the annual audit process by ensuring timeliness in providing necessary support and schedules.
* Special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
* AAT Level 2 required; AAT Level 3 or equivalent preferred.
* 5 years of experience required.
* Familiarity with ERP software - AS400 and Infor/Mapics a plus.
* Excellent computer skills, MS Excel in particular.
* Solid knowledge of accounting principles, laws, and regulations.
* Excellent analytical skills in managing large amounts of data.
