About Adam: Adam (9) lives at home with his Mum, Dad, Sister (1½) and grandparents. He is very active, loving, and extremely happy. Adam enjoys swimming, playing, going for walks, attending school, bowling, hot chocolate outings, music, and dancing. He loves interacting with others and enjoys playful activities.
Adam currently attends an SEN School, swimming lessons, horse riding, and intense physiotherapy sessions. He will soon be adding SLT, OT, Dietician, and Hydrotherapy to his agenda. Adam dislikes loud noises and crowded places but has enjoyed outings to the Theatre and Butterfly farm. He has Cerebral Palsy, Global developmental delay, and controlled epilepsy. Adam can walk short distances with support and uses a buggy for outings. His speech and understanding are significantly delayed, often vocalizing through shouting or screaming.
Overview: We are recruiting two weekend Family Support Workers to support Adam and his family. Adam’s Grandpa has early stages of Alzheimer’s and requires understanding, empathy, and support. While the focus will be on supporting Adam, there may be times when you will help look after his little sister or carry out general housework to relieve his parents, such as laundry and light housekeeping. The family employs a weekly cleaner.
Adam needs full assistance with dressing, toileting, changing, preparing food and drinks, and feeding. You will also plan, supervise, and support all therapies, activities, bath time, playtime, and outings. The home may be busy with family and friends, so comfort in such environments and a willingness to help would be beneficial.
Who this job would suit: This role would suit a driver with experience working within a family home, particularly with children under 2 and those with learning and physical disabilities. Someone who is willing to assist the whole family and is open to occasional family holidays would be ideal.
What’s great about this role: You will become part of a supportive team. Full training through a Case Management company will be provided, along with professional support and supervision.
