We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our award-winning Ground Engineering consultancy, to manage projects of varying values (£250k), types and phases, including site-based subcontractor works (trial pits, borehole drilling etc.).
Key Responsibilities
1. Plan, then execute projects in line with scope, budget and programme to achieve Client defined deliverables.
2. Lead teams of multi-disciplinary technical resources, coordinating various workstreams to achieve project outcomes.
3. Monitor and control the progress and financial performance of multiple projects concurrently, in line with monthly financial reporting requirements and prepare invoices.
4. Contract management, including NEC suite of contracts.
5. Procurement and management of supply chain / subcontractors, including site work activity as Principal Contractor under the CDM Regulations 2015.
6. Appropriately mitigate project risk and manage Change effectively to ensure no project margin erosion throughout the life of the project.
7. Drive efficient delivery through the project team to achieve improved project financial metrics.
8. Seek opportunities for enhanced service offerings to create additional value for Clients then manage any arising variations to the scope and Contract.
9. Plan and run Client progress meetings.
10. Liaise directly with Clients and other key project stakeholders to ensure all requirements are understood and balanced in the achievement of mutually beneficial outcomes.
11. Produce relevant RAMS for site works, and ensure Health & Safety remains at the core of all project activities.
12. Create proposals for new opportunities, developing pricing to account for technical and commercial risks.
13. Support Regional Managers in improving Project Delivery processes and tools.
Attributes
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and experience:
1. Formal Project Management qualification (i.e. APM / PMP).
2. Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline.
3. Proven experience of working and managing multiple concurrent projects within a consultancy setting of ground engineering.
4. Knowledge and experience of typical engineering forms of Contract, including the NEC suite.
5. Familiarity with engineering project management tools and methodologies, including revenue recognition and Earned Value Analysis (EVA).
6. Excellent leadership and collaboration skills within a multidisciplinary team across multiple locations.
7. Ability to work under time pressure, managing multiple priorities concurrently.
8. Drive to achieve excellent results, personal development and continuous improvement in the business’ processes.
9. Solid understanding of ground engineering concepts, with the ability to communicate these effectively to both Clients and project team members.
10. Adaptability to the dynamic nature of engineering projects and problem-solving approach, quickly mitigating the impacts of change.
11. Proficiency with project planning software (i.e. MS Project).
12. Must possess a full UK Driving License, with ability and willingness to travel to other CGL / Client offices and work sites.
