Salary: 12.31 - 13.16 per hour ( 21,995.67 - 23,514.45 actual salary depending on qualifications)
Hours: 40 hours per week - Term Time only
* Start time: 8.15am
* Finish times: Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday 4.45pm, Thursday 5.00pm, Friday 4.00pm

Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in Effingham, Surrey. This role involves supporting teachers in a class environment with pupils aged 11-16 who have autism and may also experience associated behavioural, communication, or multiple learning difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:
* Safeguard and promote the welfare of pupils in line with the school's safeguarding and PREVENT policies.
* Provide constructive feedback on pupil behaviour, relationships, and attitudes.
* Support positive behaviour management and adapt to changes or escalations in behaviour.
* Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, helping them feel safe and supported to enjoy and engage in learning.
* Encourage independence and personal development while maintaining high expectations of behaviour.
* Assist in implementing and adapting learning activities in collaboration with the teacher, supporting the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum.
* Organise and provide resources for lessons and activities as directed by the teacher.
* Be flexible and willing to assist in a variety of tasks to meet the needs of the school and its pupils.
Ideal Candidate:
To thrive in this role, you will likely demonstrate:
* Experience working with SEN in a paid or voluntary capacity.
* A recognised Level 2 qualification (or above) in Support Work for Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent) is desirable.
* GCSE Maths and English Language at Grade 4 or above (or equivalent) is essential.
* Understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures.
* Knowledge or experience working with pupils with SEN, SEMH, or ASD.
* A creative and positive approach to meeting individual pupils' needs.
* The ability to provide consistent support and adapt your approach to each child.
* A willingness to participate in the school's behaviour support strategy, including accredited physical intervention (Team Teach) as a last resort.
* Strong report-writing skills, with the ability to complete reports accurately and promptly.
