About the role
At Tesco, our Distribution Centres could not function without the support of our Maintenance Team. A Lead Maintenance Technician is an integral part of this team, carrying out maintenance procedures safely in the DC.
Working closely with the DC Maintenance Manager, the Lead Maintenance Technician will provide day-to-day supervision to our technicians and deliver statutory requirements and proactive planned maintenance promptly and in a cost-effective way, ensuring the business can continue to deliver its promise of serving Britain’s shoppers a little better every day.
You will be responsible for
* A hands-on supervisory role supporting the DC Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Technicians.
* This is a mobile role supporting maintenance, reactive breakdowns, and planned works across DCs.
* Audit preparation including but not limited to SALA, Paragon, DSEAR, BSI, Fire & Water annual risk assessment reviews.
* Ensuring a safe environment for those who work in DCs.
* Supporting periodic maintenance including but not limited to fire alarm testing, sprinkler testing, HVAC maintenance, building maintenance, and water testing.
* Electrical maintenance, reactive repairs, FWT remedials, and PAT.
* Building effective relationships with the DC Technicians, communicating clearly on tasks, and managing expectations proactively.
* Ensuring assets are fixed in line with the agreed SLAs and are within legal compliance.
* Using the systems available to accurately record work completed and describe work that needs to be escalated.
* Working closely with internal service teams and external contractors.
* Meeting the necessary legal and compliance standards & record keeping.
* Being aware of the cost implications and ensuring the most effective and efficient fix.
You will need
As a vital part of our Maintenance team, you will demonstrate enthusiasm for maintaining high standards. With previous experience in a maintenance, engineering, or construction environment, you will be digitally confident using a tablet to view daily work schedules and manage emails.
* Desirable - Electrically qualified technician.
* Experience working remotely and traveling between sites.
* Good time management.
* The ability to build relationships quickly.
* An awareness of cost and budget controls.
* An awareness of up-to-date Health and Safety measures.
* Supervisory experience.
* Experienced Tesco System User in IT services e.g. Verisae, Microsoft Office Suite.
