Environmental, Health and/or Safety (EHS) assignments are planned to provide experience and familiarization with the technical staff, methods, practices and programs of the company and assigned area. After orientation and training, performs limited assignments of specific tasks focused on maintaining compliance and providing technical support to problem resolution. The key role of this position is to learn and assist: to gain an understanding of company’s business, systems and procedures; to learn and develop skills which result from the practical application of basic scientific knowledge; and to help a project team or others in the work group.
Attention to detail is critical. Uses readily available clear and direct references and provide straightforward solutions to problems. Collects and evaluates data and develops plans for assignments. May expect to have direct contact with other team members and suppliers.
EHS Associates must manage their own development, continuously learning through experience and staying abreast of technology and regulatory changes. Learning will focus on methods, processes and systems applied to the EHS discipline, practical application of theory, communications and building knowledge of company’s methods, practices, and programs.
REPRESENTATIVE ACTIVITIES:
• Performs inspections and tests planned to provide experience and familiarization with company operations, specific EHS issues and regulations, and company practices
• Collects and evaluates data
• Identifies problem areas
• Assists more experienced professionals in developing solutions
• Performs training that has already been developed
• Inspect businesses for health and safety standards
• Follow up complaints and investigate outbreaks of infectious disease or pests
• Enforce environmental health laws
• Investigate accidents at work
• Write records and reports
• Advise employers on all environmental health matters and give educational talks
BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:
• Must demonstrate strong analytical skills, initiative, Route cause analysis and investigation
• Leadership experience, and the ability to communicate effectively
• Min. 3 years experience of Grasps management systems and ISO standards
• Understand where the safety aspect sits within the organization
• Any other strong systems background with PowerBI
• Lead auditor experience
• Nebosh Certification
• IEMA Certification
• Legal knowledge including court procedures and government regulations
• Accident investigation courses, good investigation skills
• Strong in character, confident to approach anyone, open-minded and enthusiastic. Good listener, patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
