Role Purpose
The purpose of an Electrical Estimator is to provide accurate estimates of the cost of electrical projects, such as wiring, installation, and repair work. They must be able to read blueprints, understand electrical codes, and use estimating software to accurately calculate the cost of materials and labor. An Electrical Estimator must have a strong knowledge of electrical systems and components, as well as the ability to effectively communicate with contractors and other stakeholders. Additionally, they must have excellent problem-solving and organizational skills to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
Electrical Estimator Duties
* Develop electrical cost estimates and bids with accuracy and efficiency
* Compile detailed project estimates including labor and material costs
* Prepare and submit bids to customers, including materials, labor, and overhead costs
* Evaluate project plans and specifications, as well as assess job site conditions
* Research and source materials and equipment needed for projects
* Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors
* Analyze job costs and ensure accurate pricing for estimates and bids
* Maintain job files and update project status in database
Electrical Estimator Requirements
* Strong knowledge of electrical systems
* Must be fully electrically qualifed (C&G, NVQ or Equivelent)
* Excellent math and problem-solving skills
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams
* Proficient in the use of electrical estimating software
* Ability to work with a team
