The Role:
M&G is currently in the process of undertaking a significant program of enhancements to it’s Internal Capital Model (ICM). This program has created a number of exciting opportunities to support this activity within the Capital Valuation Team. The Capital Valuation Team is responsible for the development, modelling and analysis of M&G’s capital requirements. The role requires a qualified / near qualified actuary (or relevant background working directly with actuarial models) with experience of Solvency II capital valuations.
The role will include an opportunity to develop a strong working knowledge of:
1. M&G’s Internal Capital Model (ICM) and it’s onward use for SII capital valuations.
2. M&G’s non-profit annuity business, both the liability side “lite models” and the modelling of assets held to back these liabilities.
3. M&Gs Matching Adjustment calculation an in particular how this changes under stress; and
4. Work with, support and learn from a team with strong capital valuation expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
5. To produce and be accountable for understanding and explaining non-profit annuity capital results.
6. To understand the key drivers of non-profit annuity capital and the sensitivity of these to different conditions.
7. To track changes to M&G’s non-profit annuity assets e.g. sales, purchase and credit rating movements and ensure these are properly reflected within the capital model.
8. To provide technical expertise to design technical solutions as part of change projects within M&G where required.
You will have:
9. A background in capital modelling, non-profit annuity business and the matching adjustment desirable but other relevant experience will be considered
10. Excellent technical actuarial knowledge, with attention to detail.
11. Motivated and willing to take responsibility and ownership of the work assigned.
12. Demonstrable experience of problem solving and providing practical solutions to complex problems.
13. Commercial aptitude and the ability to consider the impact of decisions.
14. Strong commercial and collaboration skills.
15. Ability to express own viewpoint and to communicate clearly on complex actuarial issues.
