We are looking for a dedicated Health & Safety Officer to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of a safe and supportive learning and working environment. Reporting to the Head of Health & Safety, you will provide expert advice, help implement safety initiatives, and support compliance across the University.
What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Providing expert health and safety advice to staff and students.
2. Supporting the maintenance of the University’s Safety Management System.
3. Delivering engaging health and safety training across the institution.
4. Investigating incidents and accidents, identifying root causes, and recommending preventative measures.
5. Conducting risk assessments and workplace safety inspections.
6. Collaborating with managers across departments to embed a strong safety culture.
What We’re Looking For:
1. NEBOSH General Certificate, NEBOSH Diploma, or equivalent qualification in health and safety.
2. Proven experience providing health and safety guidance, preferably within an education sector setting.
3. Strong knowledge of COSHH, risk assessment, and workplace safety.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with stakeholders at all levels.
5. Confidence in delivering training and presentations.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and electronic safety management systems.
7. A proactive and solutions-focused approach to health and safety challenges.
8. A professional membership with IOSH, IRSM, or equivalent would be advantageous, as would experience in Higher Education.
