We are seeking to recruit an Outpatient Clinic Administrator on a fixed term contract for 12 months, who has a passion for high quality customer care.
The successful applicant will be working in the General Outpatient department dealing with tasks such as preparing clinic paperwork, providing reception cover, and assisting the wider clinical and nursing team to deliver outstanding patient care. There will also be the requirement to cover in our back office area, to help with the booking of appointments and on occasion, the need to cross-cover and cover reception areas so we are looking for an adaptable and flexible individual.

Job responsibilities
As an Outpatient Clinic Administrator you will receive training and guidance in order to provide support to the Outpatient department at Musgrove Park Hospital.
The post holder is required to cover reception duties in Outpatient settings providing support to the clinical teams who see patients in that area. Tasks may include checking in of patients, collecting and updating patient demographics, assisting with patients checking in on automated systems, answering patient queries, preparing patient notes for clinic, scanning and verifying clinic correspondence, and booking of follow up appointments. There will also be the requirement to cover in our back office area, to help with the booking of appointments.
There may also be occasions for the need to cross-cover and cover reception areas so we are looking for an adaptable and flexible individual.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* As a minimum, GCSEs in English Language and Maths or functional skills
Experience
* Experience of dealing with patients/customers
* Evidence of prioritising workloads/good time management
* Proven experience of working well as part of a team
* Experience of working in a healthcare setting/previous experience of NHS administration processes
* Experience of high volume contacts with patients/customers using the telephone
* Experience working on a reception meeting and greeting patients/customers
Additional Criteria
* IT literate; including recent experience of using Microsoft packages such as Word, Outlook and Excel
* Knowledge of medical terminology
* Working knowledge of in-house hospital systems
