As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support students with a range of special educational needs, including learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and emotional/behavioural challenges.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, adaptable, and passionate about working with children.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide one-to-one support for students with SEN, ensuring they are fully engaged and included in class activities.
• Assist with personal care and physical support as needed, including helping with mobility and managing equipment.
• Support differentiated learning, helping students to access the curriculum and providing tailored interventions based on individual needs.
• Work closely with teachers and other support staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor progress.
• Promote positive behavior and create a safe, inclusive learning environment that encourages independence and personal growth.
• Assist with social and emotional development, supporting students with their social skills and emotional regulation.
• Document student progress, maintaining accurate records and reporting to the SENCo or relevant staff members as necessary.
Requirements:
• Experience ideally within a school or care setting. Experience with SEN is highly desirable.
• Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
• A proactive and flexible attitude, with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of students.
• Knowledge of SEN is an advantage, but not a requirement, as full training will be provided.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, with a clear understanding of safeguarding procedures.
