We are seeking a full-time Receptionist. We will consider part-time applicants too.
The post holder will work under the indirect supervision of the reception team leader and will undertake tasks and duties delegated by the reception team leader. They will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, following policy and procedures while providing supervision to more junior staff.

To provide administrative support and manage projects to enable smooth and efficient running of the Practice.
To act as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors, nurses, and other members of the primary health care team.

Job responsibilities
Reception Duties:
1. Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the Practice.
2. Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures, and make new and follow-up appointments.
3. Using your own judgment and communication skills, ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
4. Explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.
5. Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
6. Enter requests for home visits into the home visits book, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and where necessary refer to Duty Doctor.
7. Action repeat prescription requests and ensure that they are ready for collection by the patient within 48 hours, in line with Practice protocol.
8. Take action on clinicians' requests for further information/patient contact information etc. (including computerized Practice notes), ensuring completion of all associated paperwork.
9. Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non-General Medical Services) services, accept payment, and issue receipts for same.
10. Enter patient information onto the computer as required.
11. Prepare clinical rooms for surgeries, supply prescription forms, and record numbers in use and ensure adequate supplies of consumables (including bottles, couch rolls, test request forms, etc.).

Qualifications
1. English GCSE Level C or equivalent.
2. A demonstrable commitment to professional development.
3. SystmOne knowledge.
Experience
1. Experience of working in a public reception environment.
2. Experience of Microsoft Office software.
3. Experience of dealing with the public and/or patients.
4. Experience of working in a GP practice.
5. Experience of telephone switchboard operation.
6. Experience of a computerized clinical system.
Knowledge and skills
1. Excellent keyboard and computer skills.
