Job overview
A 2-year fixed term rotational training post to learn and put into practice the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become a registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
Within own work area, assist and support the implementation of the strategic plans of the Partnership organisations and the provision of flexible, efficient integrated pharmacy care and medicines optimisation services.
To rotate through pharmacy services delivered by the organisations of the partnership, which includes South Central Ambulance Service NHS Trust (SCAS) and University Hospital Southampton (UHS) NHS Trust.
Main duties of the job
To successfully complete the Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians to enable registration with the GPhC. This is an integrated competency and knowledge-based qualification delivered both by formal education & training via the Education Provider and in the workplace. The post holder’s progress will be monitored and supported by an Educational Supervisor.
To undertake a wide range of duties on a rotational basis across the SCAS and UHS Hospital sites, which includes SCAS medicines packing unit, medicines governance, dispensing, medicines supply, procurement and stock control, ward based services, and medicines optimisation.
All duties will be carried out under direct supervision and within Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To undertake the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians Qualification and attend college virtually to complete the guided learning provided as well as workplace training.
Work on a rotational basis, gaining competencies and experience as defined by the BTEC Level 3 Diploma. A practice/clinical supervisor will be allocated for each rotation.

Qualifications
* Minimum 4 GCSEs grades C/4 and above. Must include English, Maths and Science.
Knowledge and Skills
* Basic keyboard/computer skills.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Work experience in hospital/community/ambulance pharmacy.
