Are you looking for a new & exciting role? We are looking for an enthusiastic team player to join our Acute and Community Nutrition Support Dietetic Team at East Sussex Healthcare Trust as a Dietetic Assistant.
The successful candidate will have a split role between acute and community nutrition support, and will work with both teams across a varied inpatient and community based caseload that covers a variety of clinical conditions, supporting the dietitians and dietetic assistant practitioners with their patient caseloads, service development and administrative tasks.
Cross site working will be required and therefore being a car driver would be advantageous.
You will be required to talk confidently and appropriately with patients, carers and other healthcare professionals in order to support with the treatment of our patients. Using digital systems effectively to gather information, record clinical activities, order equipment and ancillaries, and complete general administrative duties.
The Dietetic Department that includes over 40 clinicians and associated staff, supporting the specialities of paediatrics, diabetes, intensive care, inpatients, acute rehabilitation, general outpatients & community nutrition support. The department is also supported by our Primary Care Network (PCN) dietitians & we are also excited to be welcome our first Trainee Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP) Dietitians (Oncology & Integrated Discharge Team) and Apprentice into the team in 2023.
• To work under the supervision of registered Dietitians to provide follow-up for patients referred to the Dietitian for nutritional support and other dietetic interventions
• Obtaining relevant information from patients, other staff and electronic notes.
• Advising and educating patients where necessary on foods suitable for their dietary needs.
• Identifying patients’ food and drink preferences as necessary and prescribed supplements.
• Assist in the nutritional monitoring of patients by collecting specified information such as anthropometric measurements, biochemistry, nutritional intake and support the implementation of dietetic interventions, reporting findings to the Dietitian responsible for the patient’s care.
• Liaise with Dietitians or other healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate nutritional care plans are implemented, seeking assistance in areas outside own knowledge and skills. Support patients to achieve their optimum nutritional status by reinforcing the nutritional care plan, and implement any changes to care plans, as agreed with the Dietitian.
• To work as part of the multidisciplinary team, under the supervision of Dietitians, supporting the provision of and to monitor standards of safe feeding practice and nutritional support.
